Phil Maynard is the founder of SemFin. He is a former United States Marine and a business intelligence professional with over 15 years of IBM Cognos TM1 implementation experience and dozens of successful IBM Cognos TM1 implementations, spanning commercial, non-profit and government contracting organizations. He has proven his ability to take a client’s business processes and develop a TM1 solution that satisfies the requirements and that delivers a user experience that is logical and easy to work with.

Prior to starting SemFin, Phil was the Technical Solution Architect for a successful business intelligence implementation company for seven years. Among other things, he presented solutions for TM1 server architecture and configuration, TM1 metadata modeling, security and proven TM1 development methods. He has also conducted many public and on-site TM1 technical training classes.

Calvin Sun is a Govcon Planning system expert with over 15 years of experience implementing Financial Planning solutions using IBM Cognos Planning and IBM Cognos TM1. Calvin’s deep understanding of planning and reporting requirements, as well his knowledge of Operations and Human Resources of government contractors enable him to design the functional capabilities of FocusPoint.   Calvin has delivered over 100 implementations for Government Contractors, Project Based Businesses and Fortune 500 companies.  His knowledge of a company’s Financial Planning needs, in addition to his technical skills and financial expertise has made him a successful and key resource for his customers.

Prior to joining SemFin as a Partner and Solution Architect, Calvin was the Senior Principal/Leading Consultant for the Enterprise Planning group at Deltek, Inc.  Calvin successfully led over 60 Enterprise Planner implementations for Deltek clients.

Rick Khan is a business intelligence professional who has over 16 years of experience and has designed and implemented over 250 successful implementations. His understanding of enterprise-wide information delivery systems has allowed him to advise his customers on sound solutions that add value while minimizing total cost of ownership.

Prior to joining SemFin as a Partner and Solutions Architect, Rick was the Director of the Business Intelligence and Planning Group at Deltek, Inc for 12 years. He specialized in advising customers on the best practices of implementing business intelligence and financial planning solutions. Among other things, he presented solutions for server architecture and configuration, metadata modeling, security and proven development methods with full Integration of Cognos BI and TM1 components. He has also conducted many public and on-site Cognos training classes for Deltek, Inc.

David Liao

David Liao is a financial performance management professional with over 12 years of experience implementing government contracting tools including financial planning and budgeting solutions using IBM Cognos TM1 and IBM Cognos Planning. His skills and expertise, in addition to his attention to client needs, have made him a successful and a key resource for his customers.

Prior to joining SemFin as Partner and Solution Architect, David was a Senior Consultant for Deltek, Inc. He specialized in implementing Financial Planning and Budgeting Solutions for Government Contractors and advising them on best practices.

John H. Johnson

Vice President of Sales & Marketing

John H. Johnson is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He brings 25 years of experience in delivering consultative and strategic solutions to government contracting and enterprise customers alike. John is responsible for developing and maintaining the FocusPoint business model and negotiating optimal value SemFin’s clients.

Prior to joining SemFin, he spent 10 years with Cognos and IBM managing strategic partner relationships including IBM’s partnership with Deltek. In this capacity he learned a great deal about the project performance management requirements of the government contracting market. It is this experience he brings to the development of the FocusPoint business model.
